Election signs damaged in Listowel, OPP say
Police don't believe vandalism targeted at particular party
OPP in North Perth are investigating after they say a number of election signs were damaged in Listowel and the surrounding area.
"Some of them have been removed right out of the ground and thrown into a river or a crick, and some of them have just been uprooted and left on people's lawns," said Const. Barry Cookson.
The vandalism has happened on at least two occasions in the past week, Cookson said. He said police don't believe it's targeted at a particular political party.
Cookson noted that someone caught defacing election signs could face a mischief charge, resulting in a fine or imprisonment of up to two years.
