Flair Airlines announces 6 new flights to U.S. with connections from Waterloo region

Low-cost carrier Flair Airlines is expanding its network into the United States with six new ports being added starting on Oct. 31, chief executive officer Stephen Jones has announced.

The new ports are:

• Fort Lauderdale.
• Orlando Sanford International Airport.
• Las Vegas.
• Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport
• Palm Springs.
• Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Jones said the flights will connect Toronto's Pearson International Airport, Waterloo region, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Abbotsford, B.C., and Calgary.

"This is obviously timed at the beginning of November, end of October, to take advantage of Canadians' desire to go somewhere warm at this time of year," Jones said.

"I think, as you'd all be aware, COVID has restrained people terribly over the past 18 months and we really think that there's a strong demand going to come to these new services."

Flair Airlines started flying out of the Region of Waterloo International Airport this spring.

Regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the airline, Jones said "the last 15 months has been brutal" and "unlike anything I've seen before."

But he said the growth of the airline is undeniable now, so his team is looking forward to bringing the U.S. into its network.

The airline currently serves 20 destinations across Canada. Fares to the new destinations will startfrom $79 to $109 one way.

Jones saidCanadians have been over-paying for air travel to domestic and U.S. destinations for years.

"Flair is here to ensure that Canadians are no longer taken advantage of and receive low prices for even better service," he said.

"The fares to our new destinations ensure Canadians can easily enjoy travel this winter and spend some much-deserved time away exploring sunny new places."
