Help Syrian refugees arriving in Kitchener with gift cards and household items
Fundraisers say they're drowning in clothes, but still need small appliances and cookware for families
A two-dayclothing drive by the African Family Revival Organizationat the Kitchener MasjidMosque has turned into a month-long project for organizers, who arestill digging through bags of clothing donations.
Back in December Fadhwa Yusuf decided she wanted to help collect donations for Syrian refugees arriving in the region. Now the gym at the mosque is filled with donations.
"So far we've served over 20 families," said Yusuf.
"We try to make sure they get everything they need because they're starting from scratch."
Although there are plenty of clothes to go around, Yusuf saidthere are still shortages for many household items and electronics. She also says gift cards to Kishki World Foods,Food Basics and Walmart are welcome.

Electronics, including
- Microwaves
- Toasters, kettles, blenders
- Irons, vacuums
Household item including
- Pots and pans
- Plates and cups
- Baking pans
- Bath mats and curtains
- Bedsheets, blankets
- New pillows
- Carpets
Children's items such as:
- Strollers, high chairs
- Diapers
- New undergarments for all ages, including adults
