The Grand River Conservation Authority has expanded its flood warning to include New Hamburg, as the Nith river is added to the list of waterways affected by Friday's huge rainfall.

"Flows are forecast to peak at Warning Level 1 in New Hamburg," the agency said Friday. "Wilmot Township flood coordinators are advised to warn residents in the Level 1 area including parts of Milton and Jacob Streets."

A floodwatch for the Nith was also issued for Ayr.

"Flows are forecast to peak below warning levels. Conditions are being monitored closely and flood coordinators will be contacted as necessary," the GRCA said of that community.

It comes after 100 millimetres of rain fell in the northern part of the Grand River watershed between 3 and 5 a.m. Friday.
