Guelph police target unsafe habits on Gordon St.

A seven kilometre stretch of road in Guelph which has seen 149 collisions so far this year, with 44 that led to personal injuries, will be on the radar of Guelph police for the next two weeks.

Police will be monitoringGordon Street from Clair Road to Waterloo Avenue until Friday Nov. 17. Project "CORRIDOR" will target distracted driving, speeding, following too close, amber and red light runners, unsafe turns, and drivers who disobeying signs.Police will also pay attention to cyclists and pedestrians who don't obey traffic signals.

According to police that stretch of road, which connects the southern part of the municipality to the downtown core, has seen an increase in commercial and residential development and extra traffic.

Three intersections including Wellington and Gordon, Stone and Gordon and Clair and Gordon haveseen a significant number of collisions resulting in injuries.
