Cam Guthrie wins Guelph mayoral race

Cam Guthrie has wona second term asGuelph's mayor.

With all 56 tabulators reporting, Guthrie had 22,203 votes. He was challenged byAgnieszkaMlynarz, who ended up with 11,149 votes.

Guthrie was first elected mayor in Guelph in 2014. Prior to that, he was elected as a councillor in 2010.

Mlynarz ran in the provincial election for the NDP.

Guelph opted to go back to paper ballots and tabulators after allowing online voting in 2014.

The unofficial results on Monday night showed Guelph had a 37.16 per cent voter turnout, down from 44 per cent in 2014.

Ward councillors

All but two councillors sought re-election. Karl Wettseinof Ward 6 and Andy Van Hellemondof Ward two didnotrun again.

Each ward has two councillors.

Ward 1: Incumbents Dan Gibson with 3,033 votes andBob Bell with 2,361 votes won their seats.

Ward 2: IncumbentJames Gordon won his seat with 3,009votes while newcomer RodrigoGollerwon the second seat with 2,728.

Ward 3:Incumbents Phil Allt, with 3,187 votes, and June Hoflandwith 2,764 votes,won their seats.

Ward 4:Incumbents Christine Billings, with 2,330 votes,and Mike Salisbury, with 1,702 votes, won their seats.

Ward 5: Incumbents Leanne Piper, with 3,719 votes,and Cathy Downer with 3,525 votes, won their seats.

Ward 6:Newcomer DominiqueO'Rourkehad 4,133 votesand incumbentMarkMacKinnonhad3,137 votes to win their seats.
