Expect heavy rain as slow-moving thunderstorms sweep through Waterloo region

Slow-moving thunderstorms could bring up to 60 mm of rain to parts of Waterloo region Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada's has issued a special weather statement to the region that says torrential downpours are possible into the evening.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is also possible.

As of 12:30 p.m., the special weather statement was for areas from Lake Huron to Waterloo region and north to Georgian Bay, but did not includeGuelph.

The forecast said Waterloo region and Guelph could expect showers into the evening with the risk of a thunderstorm.Tuesday's high was expected to reach 28 C with a humidex value of 37.

On Wednesday, it's expected there will be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 30 C, feeling more like 38 C with humidity.
