Highway 7 between Kitchener and Guelph is one of a number of roadprojects across the province to be improved in the near future.

Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek announced $1.3 billion for 123 roads projects on Wednesday.

The background information provided by the ministry says the highway will see "rehab" work.

Kersondra Hickey, a communications co-ordiantor for the ministry's west region, said in an email thework will involve repaving the existing highway expected to be complete in 2019.

It was not clear what that means for the work underway to build a new Highway 7. Work on the project was placed under review by the province in November, when the government said it was reviewing all transportation projects.

A ministry report called Southern Highways Program 2017-2021, said the completion date for the new four-lane highway between Kitchener and Guelph is "beyond 2021."

"The government is continuing its review of expansion projects as part of its line-by-line review. More information on the government's capital plan will be released in the coming months," Hickey said Wednesday evening.

As part of Wednesday's announcement, the government said it would install new lights on the Trussler Road interchange on Highway 7/8, with that work expected to begin in late 2019.

The projects have either been advertised or awarded as of March 14, the government said in a release.

It noted "project timing is subject to change based on funding, planning, design, environmental approval, property acquisition and construction requirements."
