183 charges, 11 arrests made during 2022 Homecoming weekend in Waterloo

Between 8 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday,officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service received almost 300 calls for service and laid a total of 183 charges. Officers also made 11 arrests over the weekend.

Police received 67 calls for service from community during Homecoming weekend

Waterloo regional police say officers responded to almost 300 calls for service during this year's Homecoming celebrations.

Between 8 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, police said officers laid a total of 183 charges. The majority of the charges laid were under theLiquor Licence Control Actand the Highway Traffic Act.

Policealsolaid more than650 charges during the first four weeks of Project Safe Semester this year, more than double compared to 2021 numbers, which saw 310 charges, according to police.

Project Safe Semester is month-long campaign that promoteswell-being and safety for community members and students.
