There were two collisions between vehicles and the ION LRT Monday morning, one of which resulted in charges.

At 8:25 a.m., police were called to the area of Ottawa Street S. and Bedford Road in Kitchener for a collision. Police say there was just a scratch on the LRT and no injuries.

Then at 11:40 a.m., officers were called to King Street W. and Green Street in Kitchener. A white car going south on King Street attempted a U-turn at the intersection and was hit by the southbound LRT, police said.

There are no signs prohibiting U-turns at the intersection, however drivers can only turn left when the left turn signal is on.

Police say there were no physical injuries. There was moderate damage to the vehicle and the LRT.

A 27-year-old Waterloo woman has been charged with going through a red light.
