Kitchener cyclists in need of an emergency tune-up can get one at three different locations now that the city has installed three bike fix-it stations at Kitchener City Hall, the Kitchener Market and at the head of the Iron Horse Trail on Queen Street.

The fluorescent green stations each come equipped withan air pump, wrenches and tire irons.

For those who aren't so mechanically inclined, the stations each come withQR codes thatwhen scanned with a smartphoneprovide basic instructions on how to repair a flat tire, adjust gears, brakes andremove a wheel.

You can pretty much build a bike here, said Michael White from Ziggys Cycle and Sport.

White advises cyclists who are justpulling theirbikes out of storage after a long winter tomake sure to test the brakes before pedallingaway.

He also saysif you use a helmet, make sure it isnt morethan four yearsold.
