Kitchener man nabbed carrying thousands in fentanyl, police say

An arrest Thursday of a Kitchener man, who was found by police to be carrying thousands of dollars worth of fentanyl and meth, led to two search warrants executed at separate Kitchener homes where police say they found more drugs.

Police arrested a Kitchener man Thursday after officers allegedly discovered he was carrying a loaded handgun, a large quantity of Canadian cash and more than $15,000 worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine. Thousands of dollars worth of drugs including fentanyl wereseized after a Kitchener man was arrested late last week, police say.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on Stirling Avenue South in Kitchener. Waterloo Regional Police said officers discovered the man had a loaded handgun on him as well asa large amount of Canadian currency and more than $15,000 worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

As part of the investigation, two search warrants were executed on Courtland Avenue East and Fairview Avenue.

There, about $47,000 worth of fentanyl, meth, marijuana and psilocybin (mushrooms) were seized, police said. Additional weapons were also discoveredby officers.

The investigation is ongoing and police said further arrests are anticipated.
