Suspected fentanyl seized during drug arrests in region

Waterloo Regional Police made five arrests this week and seized what they suspect is fentanyl from homes in Kitchener and Cambridge.

Five people were charged on Thursday

Waterloo Regional Police made five arrests this week and seized what they suspect is fentanyl from homes in Kitchener and Cambridge.

On Thursday, police arrested a 40-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman on Victoria Street North in Kitchener after finding a loaded handgun, suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana and identity documents.

Following those arrests, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Regina Street North in Waterloo and say they found drug paraphernalia and identity documents.

The man and woman have been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and identity theft. The woman was also charged with possession of drugs and the man was charged with possession of a firearm with ammunition.

Also on Thursday, police arrested three people on Franklin Boulevard in Cambridge and seized suspected fentanyl and prohibited weapons.

Two men, aged 28 and 32, and a 30-year-old woman face several charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession.
