K-W Glee, which is made up of more than 75 young people from across the region, has recorded a new, original song with a simple message: Stay Home For The Holidays.

The song was released Dec. 18 on the club's YouTube channel.

The club says in a post on its website that it has put all operations on hold since March. That means no performances, rehearsals or gathering in any way.

"We miss singing as a group immensely and we look forward to the day when being together and making music as a choir in person is possible," the group's post says.

The song is meant to "spread a little cheer and gently encourage" people to follow public health guidelines, including not to hold social gatherings over the holidays.

Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, the region's medical officer of health, says people need to avoid any social gatherings and shouldn't get together with people as a last hurrah before the provincial lockdown takes effect on Saturday.

"If we think that it's OK to continue to socialize and maybe even up our socialization because we won't have a chance to later, we're actually going to make things much worse for us and put us in a position in Waterloo region where we may not be able to exit lockdown measures," she said Tuesday.
