LRT groundbreaking set for June 27 in Waterloo
The official groundbreaking for the ION LRTwill take placeJune 27, say regional staff.
Pre-constructionfor the region's light rail project is currently underway to build the route that will run from Fairway Mall in Kitchener to Conestoga Mall in Waterloo.

The official ceremony will take place at 1 p.m, on June 27 at Dutton Drivenear Albert Street, Kim Moser, a regional spokeswoman, told CBC News.
The $818-million light rail transit line has been funded by municipal, provincial and federal governments and is expected to be in service by 2017.
Construction will be carried out byGrandlinq, a consortiumcomprised of several construction, financial services and engineering companies. The consortium earlier this year securedthecontract to design, finance, build, operate and maintain the line.
