Man points gun at woman sitting in parked car in Waterloo: WRPS

Waterloo regional police are investigating a report of a man pointing a firearm at a person who was sitting in their parked car in Waterloo Monday evening.

Police are investigating a report that a man with a handgun pointed the weaponat a woman sitting in a parked car in Waterloo Monday evening.

Officers were called to the area of King Street N. and University Avenue around 8:35 p.m. Monday, the Waterloo Regional Police Service reported on its website.

Police say an unknown man with a handgun had approached the car and pointed the gun at the woman before fleeing the area on foot.

There were no injuries and nothing was taken, police said.

The suspect is described as male between the ages of 20 to 30 years old, approximately six feet tall with a thin build and shoulder-length dreadlocks. The man was seenwearing black clothing.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

"At this time, we are encouraging the community to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or personsto police," Const. AshleyDietrich told CBC Kitchener-Waterloo.

So far this year there have been at least12 shootings in the cities in Waterloo region. At the Police Services Board meeting this month, Chief Bryan Larkin reported charges have been laid in about 70 per cent of cases.
