A plan to put bronze statues of all 22 Canadian prime ministers in Victoria Park is attracting a lot of opposition from citycitizens and is a divisive issue at Kitchener City Council.

The results of a public opinion survey held by the city on The Statue Project were clear: seventy-nine percent of respondents saidthey didn't like the idea in concept.

The group of private citizensheading the projecthope to raise most of the money to pay for the $2 million project themselves, but they've requestrequested $300,000 in support from the city.

At 8:10 we'll hear from Kitchener Mayor Carl Zehr, who has been a supporter of the statues project, about the results of the survey, and the next steps.
