Milton still pushing for Wilfrid Laurier University campus

Wilfrid Laurier University and the Town of Milton are still committed to bringing a university campus to the city.

Last weekMilton Town Council passed a motion to move forward with making a new proposal.

Milton Mayor Gordon Krantzis confident the right changes can be made to secure the bid for next year,"Its just a little extra effort going intocovering all bases, and making sure we know exactly what the province is asking for, and we are going to make sure we conform to all of their requirements." Said Krantz.

Krantz says the new bid will havea more detailed transit plan, and include a "partner college" in the proposal. Conestoga College and Sheridan College have both shown interest in the project.

Second attempt

Earlier this year the provincepassed on abid proposed by Milton andWilfridLaurierUniversity to build a campus on a60-hectare plot of land worth $50 million donated by the Town of Milton.

Instead,the Ontario Governmentchose amuch smaller bid presented by York University to build a campus inMarkham.
