New Waterloo Regional police dog named Chase, thanks to Twitter

The newestcanine addition to the Waterloo Regional Police Service now has an official name:Chase.

The 16-month-old German Shepherd was named with the help of the public through a two-week Twitter campaign.

Chase got far and away the most "votes" or online impressionsof the three possible names, whileTitan trailed far behind in second place, withDougiein third.

Ten different schools across the region nominated the name. Each school will get a visit fromChase, a sixteen-month-old male German Shepherd, the dog's handlerand Chief Bryan Larkin. Police got 60 names suggestions from the public and local elementary schools.Names that didn't make the shortlist includeRadar, Flash, Rookie, Ranger, Jelly Bean, Drake, Justiceand Zeus.
