OPP report $40K worth of meat stolen in Walkerton

Provincial Police in South Bruce are investigating the theft of $40,000 worth of meat from a Walkerton company. This follows at least two other food-related thefts this month.

Provincial Police in South Bruce are investigating the theft of $40,000 worth of frozen meat from a Walkerton company.

Police say a white Wanc Rfa refrigerated trailer with licence plate P43 74Bwas stolen early Monday morning from Industrial Road in Walkerton between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m.

The trailerwas later found in the Toronto area without the meat inside.

This theft follows two other food related thefts this month..


In Hamilton, $45,000 worth of lettuce was stolen from a refrigeratedtrailer on Covington Street in the east side of the city. The trailer was driven to Toronto where it was found empty.

In South Oxford Township, east of London, Ont.,145 kilograms of cheese worth $6,200 was taken from the Village Cheese Mill.Two people were charged in connection with that case.
