You could name the new robot at Guelph Public Library

The Guelph Public Library has a new iPal robot that will be used for storytime, sing-a-longs and coding programs for children but before it can be put to work, it needs a name.

The library is hosting a naming competition until March 17. The contest is open to all ages and winning will earn you a one-on-one session with the robot "and of course, bragging rights to its name," a release said.

The iPal is about the size of a child, a little over a metre tall, and is designed to teach socialization, reading, spelling, math and coding to youngsters.

Meg Forestell-Page, the library's supervisor of programming and digital services, says the robot is a great addition because it will "promote literacy and technology skills in new and innovative ways."

The winning name will be announced during Itty Bitty Storytime on March 22.
