SIU investigates police officer after fatal shooting in Kitchener

One Waterloo Region Police officer is under investigation after aman was shot and killed in Kitchener on Thursday night.

According to the Special Investigations Unit,police were called to 77 Brybeck Crescent just after 9:00 p.m.

They saidthere was an "interaction" between police and a 21-year-old man, whowas shot and later pronounced dead at the scene.

Five SIU investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to probe the incident.

According to the SIU, eight officers were involved in the incident, but onlyone officer is being investigated.
