When CBC Kitchener-Waterloo launched a year ago, we met Thalmic Labs' CEO Stephen Lake at Communitechas the company was preparing to raise funding for their Myo armband.

The device uses arm gestures to control electronics like computers, robotic devices and video games. A year later, millions of dollars and almost a million pre-orders later, co-founder Aaron Grant looks back at a stellar year.

"We very consciously decided to stay [in Kitchener]. There's a really, reallygreatstartup ecosystemhere and it's just, you know, gaining momentum over the past couple years. It's really becoming an awesome place to be as a startup," Grant told The Morning Edition host Craig Norris in an interview.
