Uberhopes to be operating in Kitchener-Waterloo by the end of the year and ishiring representativesto work with future drivers for the company.

The ride service company held an information session in the region on Wednesday for future drivers, and plans to hold several more, according to Uber Canada spokesperson Susie Heath.Heath says hundreds of people have expressed interest in becomingUberdrivers.

The posting doesn't specify how many "partner support representatives" Uber is hiring, but the jobs appear to be part time contracts, and reps can expect to work twoto threedays a week to start. Heath said that while the companywould like to be operating in the region by the end of the year, there's no 'specific timeline' for when that will happen.

Region of Waterloo staff have expressed concern in the past over whether Uber the company does enough to vet drivers. But regional councillor Sean Strickland said that region should work in partnership with Uber.

"We will continue to work collaboratively with officials at all levels of government as part of our ongoing process to continue to explore expansion in a number of cities across Canada," wrote Heath in anemail.
