Due to some expected rain on Tuesday, final asphalt paving on Caroline Street and Allen Street in uptown Waterloo will be postponed.

Paving on Caroline Street and on Allen Street originally scheduled for today and Wednesday, will not happen this week.

"Unfortunately due to the planned rain ... we're not able to start that work," Avril Fisken told CBC's The Morning Edition host, Craig Norris, on Tuesday.

"What that means is that there will be a shift in that schedule."

New dates for that work will be announced once arrangements have been made with businesses in the area concerning access and deliveries.

Fisken said other work scheduled for this week will be shifted by a day, from Wednesday and Thursday to Thursday and Friday. The work will require the roads to be closed for 24 hours.

That includes:

Thursday: Allen Street to the LRT crossing

  • Asphalt paving King Street from north of Allen Street to the LRT crossing and railway tracks near public square.
  • On-street parking won't be available during that time.
  • Full road closure starting at 7:00 a.m

Friday: King Street

  • Asphalt paving from Allen Street to Union Street.
  • Work will not affect the Union Street and King Street intersection.
  • Work will affect Allen Street and King Street intersection and the John Street and King Street intersection.
  • No parking will be available during that time.
  • Full road closure starting at 7:00 a.m.
