Waterloo-based OpenText launches U.S. election tracker

The information management software company will allow users to visually monitor, compare and analyze media coverage of this years U.S. election.

Waterloo-based OpenText is tracking Donald Trump. Plus Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton andthe rest ofthe American presidential election.

The information management software company will allow users to monitor, compare and analyze media coverage of this year's election south of the border, a company release said. The media coverage is referred to as "unstructured data."

"OpenText technology actually analyzes the content of the unstructured data, much in the way a human would, only much faster and with a perfect memory and better aggregate insight over massive volumes," the release said.

The software can also be used for other applications, OpenText said.

OpenText announced the election tracker a day after the Iowa caucuses, in which Calgary-born Texas Senator Ted Cruz beat billionaire businessman Donald Trump for top spot in the Republican race.

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton was declared the Democratic Partywinner, edgingout Bernie Sanders.
