Waterloo investigates 5 suspicious fires for related links

Waterloo officials say a recent series of five fires in three city neighbourhoods may be related. Waterloo Region police and the Fire Marshall's office are now investigating.

Waterloo Fire Rescuesays fivefires in the past two weeksin the city neighbourhoods of Lakeshore Village, Lakeshore North and Conservation Meadowsmaybe related, including a car fire,one in a home under construction and fire activity in a park.

Fire chief Richard Hepditchtold CBC the firesare considered suspicious because "they are in closeproximity to one another in the northwest end of Waterloo," all in a short time-frame.

Waterloo Region police and the provincial Fire Marshall's office are now investigating to see if there are other links between the incidents.

Hepditch said in each case the fires were reported to911 by the public.

No injures were reported as a result of the fires.
