Waterloo man hospitalized after getting punched on GRT bus

Waterloo Regional Police are making a public plea for help in identifying the man who landed a haymaker punch aboard a Grand River Transit bus that hospitalized a 22-year-old Waterloo man and left him with a broken jaw and lost teeth on New Year's Day.

Investigators say it happened shortly after midnight aboard a public transit bus in Waterloo's King and University area.

A group of women were arguing on the bus when the 22-year-old man tried to break up an altercation between them, police said. He was then punched in the face by an unidentified man, they said.

The punch was hard enough to break the man's jaw and knock out a number of teeth.

Investigators are looking for a suspect who is described as a white man in his early twenties, who is about six feet tall with short dark hair.
