Dave Jaworsky will return as mayor of Waterloo, getting 17,307 votes in Monday night's election.

The City of Waterloo reported unofficial election results late Monday, putting Kelly Steissin second place with 5,530 votes andChris Kolednikin third place with 1,592 votes.

Speaking to CBC from his victory party at Maxwell's in Waterloo, Jaworsky said the voters sent a clear message.

"I think the city spoke up and said the positive leadership is what we need in Waterloo and they looked at the track record of my council and our team at the City of Waterloo and said that's what we want four more years of," Jaworsky said.

"I'm very proud of what has happened here tonight getting such a major victory."

The results of the election will become official in the coming days.

Results hidden

By 9:45 p.m., the City of Waterloo took down its web page with election results.

"Due to extended voting in municipalities within the Region of Waterloo, we are temporarily removing all results from our election resultswebpage," a statement read in its place.

The results of the regional chair vote from Waterloo will only be posted"following close of voting in all municipalities in the Region of Waterloo or upon further direction of the Regional Clerk," the statement read.

The Region has already noted thatno results of chair or regional council voting will be released until Wednesday.
