7 people unopposed in municipal election hours before paperwork due

As of 9:00 a.m. Friday, seven people including one mayor were running unopposed in this fall's municipal election, with the deadline to file paperwork just hours away.

Seven peopleincluding one mayor are running unopposed in this fall's municipal election, with the deadline to file paperwork just hours away.

Woolwich Mayor Sandy Shantz is the only mayor in the region with no one running against her.

Here is the breakdown of who is currently running unopposed as of 9 a.m. Friday morning:

  • Kitchener: Paul Singh in Ward 6
  • North Dumfries: Rodney Rolleman in Ward 1,Margaret McCreery in Ward 3.
  • Wellesley: Shelley Wagner in Ward 1, Carl Smit in Ward 4.
  • Wilmot: Cheryl Gordijk in Ward 2.
  • Woolwich: Mayor Sandy Shantz.

The deadline to file paperwork to run in the Oct. 22 municipal election is 2 p.m. Friday.
