Joe Nowak wins close race for mayor in Wellesley township

Joe Nowakhas been reelected mayor in Wellesley township.

Nowakbeat challenger BerniaWheaton by 23 votes.

Nowak was first elected mayor in 2014. Prior to that he served as a township councillor.

Wheaton is a business ownerwho was also previously the economic development officer for the Rural Oxford Economic Development Corp.

Two councillors will return to their roles after being acclaimed.

• Ward 1: Shelley Wagner was acclaimed.
• Ward 2:Incumbent Herb Neherwas elected.
• Ward 3:IncumbentPeter van der Maaswas elected.
• Ward 4: Carl Smit was acclaimed.
