What Canada Post lockout means for high school report cards

If the Canada Post lockout set for Friday goes ahead,some high school students will need to make special plans to get their report cards.

Many high school report cards get mailed out in early July and the impending lockout will stop that from happening on schedule.

School boards in the region areplanning for this possibility.

Pick up atschool

Most secondary school students will be able topick up report cards during the first or second week of July, said HeatherLoney, communications and community engagement officer, at Upper Grand District School Board.

This is the same for many high school students in Waterloo, said Kylie Penticost, Communications and Web Assistant at the Waterloo Region District School Board.

She saidstudents will be able to pick up report cards beginning July 6, but added some schools like Preston High School won't have report cards ready for pick up until July 11.

Penticost said students and parents can find information regarding dates and times on their school's website, or on the school board's corporate site, and schools also plan to share information through social media.

Students in theWaterloo Catholic District School Board will be able to pick up their reportcardsinmid-Julyandmore specific information regarding pick up can be found on individual school websites.

TheWellington Catholic District School Board has also made arrangements for students to pick up their report cards, but did not provide any additional information about pick up times or locations.

Exceptions

There are some exceptions.

Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerstonis in the middle of renovations and was planning to mail report cards out.

"In the event of a strike what they would most likely do is hold onto the report cards and havea pick-up date at nearby elementary school," said Loney.

John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute have already mailed out report cards, and elementary school students have already been sent home withreport cards.
