Woolwich man charged after threats made against Kitchener-Conestoga MP

A 44-year-old Woolwich man has been charged after threats were made against Kitchener-Conestoga MP Tim Louis.

A 44-year-old Woolwich man wasbeen charged after threats were made against a local member of Parliament, regional police said.

In a statement sent to CBC Kitchener-Waterloo, Kitchener-ConestogaMP Tim Louis said his office reached out to Waterloo Regional Police Service on Feb. 2"regarding death threats I received."

"An arrest has been made and charges have been laid," he said. Louis thanked police for taking "swift action."

On Feb.3, police said investigatorslocated and arrested a suspect in the case.He hasbeen charged with uttering threats to cause death.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on March 20.
