London police are searching for whoever was inside a vehicle Sunday night that struck a cyclist in London's south end.

Two cyclists were heading west on Exeter Road, towards Wonderland Road, when one them was hit by a vehicle going in the same direction, say police.

They say the driver stopped momentarily, then fled.

A number of people saw what happened, and police say one individual followed the vehicle and detained a passenger until officers arrived.

London police Cst. Juan Romero tells CBC News that theperson was questioned by their Traffic Management Unit.

Police were able to find the vehicle, and say it was expertly examined.

The cyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition, and is now considered to be in serious condition.

Police haven't said how old the cyclist is, nor have they released a description of the vehicle.
