Chatham resident, 72, killed in fatal Dutton-Dunwich crash, OPP say

An elderly Chatham resident died Saturday after a two-vehicle collision near Wallacetown, Ont., according toElgin County OPP.

An elderly Chatham resident died Saturday after a two-vehicle collision near Wallacetown, Ont., according toElgin County OPP.

Shortly before 2:45 p.m. ET Saturday, emergency crews responded to areported collision involving two vehiclesincluding one towing a trailer. Crews were sentnearCurrie Road, north of Fingal Line, about 25kilometres southwest of St. Thomas, Ont, police said in a news release Saturday.

A 72-year-old man from Chatham, who was driving one of the vehicles,was sent to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The three people in the other vehicle were notphysically hurt, and declined to be taken to the hospital, police said.

Elgin OPP are still investigating what caused thecollision, with help from its traffic incident management enforcement team, police said.

Police are askingthat anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have captured the collision on video,to contact them.
