The City of London has put out a special call to home and business owners living near the Adelaide Street railway line to attend next week's public meeting about construction plans.

The Nov. 10 consultation will outline the timeline for the $58M project and show the latest designs, including how cycling and walking lanes will be incorporated.

The underpasswill route Adelaide's four lanes of traffic beneath the train tracks, eliminating along-standing irritant for drivers stuck waiting at the busy rail crossing for trains to pass.

In a letter delivered to all local addresses, the city said cycling infrastructure will be built on Adelaide Street and Central Avenue. It also anticipates a boulevard, plus improvements to traffic signals.

Adelaide Street is often paralyzed as massive freight trains rumble in and out of the nearby Canadian Pacific railyards, paralyzing one of the city's major arteries, often several times a day. (Colin Butler/CBC News)

Public input will be solicited after this initial meeting for two weeks, a period startingNov.11 and endingNov. 27.

Construction is scheduled to start next springand will run until 2023.
