Torrential rain is expected to hit southwestern Ontario Friday with Environment Canada issuing a weather warning across the region that will last into the evening.

The weather service is predicting between 30 to 60 mm will fall, possibly in the form of heavy downpours, in London and across Middlesex County. It says there could also be slow moving thunderstorms.

July was unseasonably wet with flooding events, including one that washed out parks and flooded many basements in the city.

"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," said an Environment Canada weather warning.
