Seven charged after school graduation after-party runs amuck

Seven people have been charged in the wake of a high school graduation after-party that caused significant damage to a rented house in south London.

Damages are estimated to be valued at $80,000

London police have charged five adults and two minors after a party lead to the extensive damage of a house in London's Old South neighbourhood. (CBC News)

Seven people have been charged in the wake ofa high school graduation after-party that caused significant damage to a rented house in south London.

On June 27, police responded to multiple 911 calls in relation to large house party in the area of Grand Avenue and Ridout Street.

Upon their arrival, police found about 50 young people and a severelydamagedproperty.

"There was significant damage to both the interior and exterior," said London police constable Tanya Alexander. "From damage to thedrywall, damage to the kitchen cabinetry, damage to the exterior deck and to exterior furniture."

Police allegethe revellers caused approximately$80,000damage.

The homeownershad rented their house through a rental website and were unaware of what was taking place.

"They believed they were renting to a young couple from out of town," Alexander said. "They were notified by the police that night that there had been a large party."

Secondary school resource officers with London Police conducted the investigation. As a result seven people were each charged with one count of mischief exceeding $5,000.

Among the charged is an 18-year-old woman,four 19-year-old men, and two male teensunder the age of 18.

London Police saidmore charges could be laid as the investigation continues.
