Neighbours in shock after $1.3M drug bust in north London suburb

Neighbours living in a posh north London subdivision told CBC News on Thursday they were shocked to find out police carried out a more than $1.3 million drug bust on their street just the week prior.

Two men, who co-own a home on Eclipse Walk, are facing multiple charges

Neighbours living in a posh north London subdivisionsay they were shocked when police raided a home and seized more than $1.3 million in drugs last week.

Two menwere charged with numerous offencesafter a home on Eclipse Walk, off of Sunningdale Road, was searched by police on July 16. Two vehicles were also searched, police said in a statement.

Officers said they seized a total of $1,346,528 in drugs, including cocaine, MDMA, psilocybin and Oxycodone. Cannabis products, like hash and extracts accounted for the bulk of the seizure, police said.

They seized more than 280 kgof cannabis flower with a street value of $1 million.

The accused, 41 and 45, are both from London and have been jointly charged with:

  • Threecounts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Possession for the purpose of selling.

Property records obtained by CBC News showa home on Eclipse Walk is jointly owned by the accused men, who purchased itin late 2013.

CBC News observed people on the property Thursday, however it remainsunclear if the accused were still in police custody at the time. Police did not immediately respond to a request for clarification.

Both of the accused are expected to make a court appearance on August 16, police said.

Multiple neighbours expressed both surprise and concern,telling CBC News they were shocked to learn their quiet neighbourhood played host to an alleged drug trafficking operation.

Police are asking anyone with information that can help with their investigation to call the London Police headquarters, or Crime Stoppers.
