Driver, 77, charged in fatal Nairn Road crash west of Ilderton

Provincial police have charged a 77-year-old man in connection with a fatal July crash on Nairn Road that killed 7-year-old Aleiya Hellowell-Hall of Ailsa Craig.

Ontario Provincial Police have charged the driver of a pickup truck that was involved in a crash on Nairn Road west of Ildertonthis summer that ended in the death of a 7-year-old girl.
Aleiya Rose Hellowell-Hall was in the back passenger seat of her mother's car when it collided with a pickup truck attempting to turn left.

Aleiya Hellowell-Hall of Ailsa Craig died and five others were taken to hospital after the car she was riding in with her mother collided head-on with a pickup truck in July.

Hellowell-Hall was in the back passenger seat of a four-door sedan that was travelling northbound on NairnRd when it slammed into a southbound pickup truck attempting to turn east onto McEwan Drive.

On Friday, Middlesex County OPP announced the77-year-old driver of the pickup truck has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving in connection with the crash.

The suspect, who is also from AilsaCraig,will appear in court on Jan. 8.
