Police launch homicide investigation after assault victim dies in hospital

A man has died in hospital after being found badly injured outside a southwest London apartment building last week, prompting police to launch a homicide investigation.

A man has died in hospital after being found badly injured outside a southwest London apartment building last week, prompting police to launch a homicide investigation.

In a news release issued Friday afternoon, police identified the victim as Darko Lukic, 48, of London, and urgedwitnesses to come forward.

According to police,paramedics took the man to hospital early Saturday morning after he was found with life-threatening injuries from an apparent beating outside of a building onBaselineRoad West near Wharncliffe Road South.

Police were told about the incident around 4:30 p.m. that afternoon, they said.

On Friday, police said the victim died in ahomicide.

"Investigators continue to appeal to members of the public who were in the 100-block of Baseline Road West between 5 8:30 a.m., on Saturday," a news release from police reads, asking for dash-cam footage, video surveillanceor other information that could help their investigation.

Police asked the public to contact them at their non-emergency lineor through Crime Stoppers.
