An 18-year-old from Tillsonburg, Ont., has been charged after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a school bus Thursday morning in South-West Oxford.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Oxford County were called to Plank Line at around 8:30 a.m.The person charged had been following too closely, police said.

"When you are behind a school bus, you should always have the assumption that at any point that school bus may be stopping," said Const.Randi Crawford.

"They might be slowing down, they might be stopping for a railroad crossing, those types of things. So every driver just needs to be alert and remain focused on the school bus ahead of them."

There were 10 students on the bus at the time, said Crawford. No injuries were reported from them or either of the drivers.

Drivers are reminded to not pass a school bus unless it's safe to do so.
