72 Manitoba kids recognized for good deeds

Kids with big hearts were recognized for their generosity in Winnipeg Saturday.

One 10-year-old raised $1,500 for Winnipeg Harvest

Kids with big hearts were recognized for their generosity in Winnipeg Saturday.

Winnipeg Harvest awarded 72 children at the food bank's annual Kids Who Care awards.

Atticus McIlraith was one of those recognized.He raised $1,500 for Harvest.

"I just get that feeling that I have to help," he said. "And it just keeps nagging at me until I do."

McIlraith said hedid it by getting his school involved after he helped out with the food bank's baby food drive.

The 10-year-old said he wasn't expecting so much publicity.

"I just want to help out," he said. "I want to help people. I don't want to do anything for me. I did it for the babies."

Since 2001, the food bank has recognized 914 children for their good deeds.
