Three men assaulted within blocks of each other early Sunday morning

Winnipeg Police officers have taped off multiple intersections in the West End after three men were assaulted within a few blocks of each other early Sunday morning.

Winnipeg police officers have taped off multiple intersections in the West End after three men were assaulted within a few blocks of each other early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the scene of an assault near the intersection of Portage Avenue and Spence Street, and another one on Langside Street near Furby Place,at 3:45 am.

One man was sent to hospital in unstable condition from the Portage Avenue incident, but his condition has since improved.

A man was also sent tohospital in unstable condition from the Langside Street incident, but his condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Then, around 4:35 a.m, police were called to the area of Arlington Street and Notre Dame Avenue, where they found a man injured.

He was sent to hospital in critical condition.

Const. Jay Murray said police are looking into whether the three incidents are connected,and are interviewing a number of witnesses.

Parts of St. Mary Avenueand Portage Avenue were still taped off by police as of 10:30 a.m.

Young Street between Portage Avenue andElliceAvenue has also been closed to traffic since early Sunday morning.

A large section of the street was taped off by police.

Officers were still on scene as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
