Assiniboine Park Pavilion closed for renovations starting Monday
Visitor services area and bathrooms on main floor will be open to public
The Assiniboine Park Pavilionwill be temporarily closed to the public for renovations.

The gallery on the second and third floor, the mainfloor restaurantand the event space will all be updated.The facility will also receive new roofing, upgraded mechanical systems and insulation.
"The Pavilion is a treasured, iconic building in Winnipeg, and these upgrades will ensure that it can continue to serve its role in Assiniboine Park for many years to come," said Don Peterkin, COO of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, in a media release. "By closing the galleries to the public, it will allow us to complete the renovations within a few months and have the building reopened in time for the busy summer season."
The renovations are expected to cost $2 million andbe completed in late spring, when there will bea grand reopening. The visitor services area and bathrooms on the main floor will be open to the public during renovations.
The renovations are part ofAssiniboine Park's $200-million redevelopment plan, whichwas unveiled in 2009.
