3 boys found safe in Sask. after mother allegedly abducted them in Ontario: RCMP

Three boys who were allegedly abducted by their mother in Ontario last December, and were briefly in care in Manitoba earlier this year, have been found safe, RCMP say.

Three boys who were allegedly abducted by their mother in Ontario last December, and were briefly in care in Manitoba earlier this year, have been found safe, RCMP say.

RCMP fromFort Qu'Appelle, Sask., were informed Wednesday that Astrid Schiller and her three children were in that community, about 70 kilometres northeast of Regina, police say.

Schiller, 55, was arrested on aManitobawarrant for child abduction, Manitoba RCMP said in a Friday news release.

The boys, ages 12, 11, and nine, were found unharmed and have been placed back into care while they are in the process of being reunited with their family in Ontario, RCMP said.

The children were originally reported missing lastDecember from Durham, Ont., according to police.

In the early hours of June 16, Manitoba RCMP got a reportthat the three brothers were at the Canada-U.S. border crossingsouth of Boissevain, in southwestern Manitoba.

Police found the three children with Schiller. She was arrestedona warrant for child abduction from police in Durham, andthe children were immediately taken into care and placed in a home in Manitoba, police said.

However, Schillerwas later released from custody, as the arrest warrant was not extended to Manitoba.

On June 17, RCMP received reports the three children were no longer at the home in Manitoba and they were againreported missing.

Following her arrest this week in Saskatchewan, Schiller was taken back to Brandon, Man.,where she remains in custody.
