Ay chihuahua! Winnipeg man fears pregnant dog stolen for her pups

A Winnipeg man believes his purebred chihuahua was stolen during a burglary at his Watt Street home in the Elmwood neighbourhood Monday night. According to the Winnipeg Humane Society, purebred Chihuahua pups can fetch up to $1,500 each.

A Winnipeg man claims his pregnant pooch has been poached.

Joe D'Andrea believes tiny Peanut, a purebred chihuahua, was stolen during a burglary at his Watt Street home in the Elmwood neighbourhood Monday night.

He doesn't think she ran away. He believes the purebred dog was snatched for her valuable puppies. According to the Winnipeg Humane Society, purebred chihuahua pups can fetch up to $1,500 each.

D'Andrea is pleading for Peanut's return. He is worried about her health because she is ready to give birth any day now, and he fears she may have been traumatized by her abduction.

"That's all I want is just the return of the dog. I can always pay a reward too, to anybody who helps me get the dog back," he said.
