The province said algal blooms have shown up at Hillside Beach on Lake Winnipeg, Ochre Beach on Dauphin Lake and Oak Lake Beach in the last week.

Tests showed the number of cells was above recreational water quality guidelines, but the concentration of toxin was below the guideline.

The province said ithas posted signs at Hillside Beach warning swimmers and boaters to avoid swimming in water where the blooms are visible and to keep pets from drinking water along the shore.

It also said levels of E. coli were within recreational water quality guidelines at beaches the province monitors.
