Pedestrian hit by vehicle on Brandon's Daly Overpass taken to hospital with serious injuries

Brandon police closed abridge in the western Manitoba city for several hours Friday morningafter a vehicle hit a pedestrian, sending the personto hospital with serious injuries.

Officers were called to the 18th Street Daly Overpassjust before 6:30 a.m., and paramedics took the pedestrian to hospital, saidConst. Jason Medwechuk with the Brandon Police Service's public information office.

Police closed all lanes to all traffic, including pedestrians. The bridge reopened at 11:30 a.m.

The Friday collision comes aftera pedestrian was hit by a truck in another part of Brandon on Wednesday.

Police and emergency crews responded to a report of a collision between a truck and pedestrian in the area of 34th Street and Victoria Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m. that day.

The 69-year-old man driving the truck showed signs of being intoxicated, according to police. He provided breath samplesand police suspended his licence.

The 26-year-old woman who was hit had minor injuriesand was treated at the hospital.
