Charges laid in collision that killed 20-year-old Taylor Renwick

Portage la Prairie RCMP have charged a 27-year-old man with impaired driving causing death and a number of other offences after Taylor Renwick, 20, was killed in an Oct. 9 head-on collision on Highway 2.

Among them are two counts of breach of probation, including failing to abstain from alcohol

Portage la Prairie RCMP have charged a 27-year-old man with impaired driving causing death and a number of other offences after Taylor Renwick, 20, was killed in an Oct. 9 head-on collision on Highway 2.

The man, who lives in Winnipegis also charged with multiple counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, impaired driving causing bodily harm and flight from police causing bodily harm.

One count of criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and flight from police causing death are among the charges laid against him.

Additionally, the man is charged with two counts of breach of probation, including failing to abstain from alcohol.

Renwick was on her way home for Thanksgiving when the man allegedly slammed into her vehicle. RCMP sayprior to the crash, police were pursuing the man's vehicle after reports of an impaired driver in Notre Dame, Man. at 11 p.m.

Police found the driver at a gas station in St. Claude. The suspect sped offonceRCMPtried to stop the vehicle.

RCMPpursuedthe suspect but eventually ended the chase because the suspect'svehicle was travelling at excessive speeds.

These charges are not among the first laid against the man.

In 2010, he was convicted of assault, he received a five-year ban on owning weapons in May 2011 and in December 2012, he was found guilty of sexual interference.

In January 2013, he was convicted of one count of mischief andfour counts of failing to comply with court ordersfrom January 2013 to April 2015.
